La Commission a le pouvoir de saisir les
juridictions pour les affaires civiles,
commerciales, sociales et administratives en
cas de violation des droits de la personne
prévues par la Constitution, les conventions
internationales ratifiées par le Rwanda ainsi
que les autres lois. A cet effet, la Commission
peut se faire représenter devant les juridictions
par ses agents investis de ce pouvoir par
l’autorité compétente sur demande du
Président de la Commission. La Commission
peut aussi se faire représenter par des avocats
de son choix.
The Commission shall have powers to file
legal proceedings in civil, commercial, labour
and administrative matters for violation of
human rights provided by the Constitution,
international treaties ratified by Rwanda and
other laws. In that regard, the Commission
may be represented in courts by its employees
authorized by relevant authority on the request
of the Chairperson of the Commission. The
Commission may also be represented by a
council of its choice.

While exercising judicial police powers and
power to file legal action, the Commission
shall respect the national laws without
prejudice to other organs’ responsibilities, and
apply such powers in case of violation of
public, individual interests, or if other relevant
organs fail to carry out their legal duties.
