“Perform a work” means to recite, render, play, dance or act a work, either directly or by means of device
or process or, in case of a motion picture or other audiovisual work, to show its images in any sequence or
to make the sounds accompanying it audible;
“Person” means an individual, partnership, corporation, trustee or legal representation having certain legal
rights and responsibilities.
“Priority date” means the date of the earlier application that serves as the basis for the right of priority
provided for in the Paris convention.
“Pseudonymous” means a work on the copies or sound recordings of which the author is identified under
a fictitious name.
“Registers” means separate registers maintained for patents, industrial designs and marks or the
accumulation of all the separate registers into a central register;
“Related rights” means rights that are in certain respects are similar to copyright. The purpose of related
rights is to protect the legal interests of certain persons and legal entities who contribute to making works
available to the public;
“Registrar” means the officer responsible to keep records of all intellectual property rights matters;
“Rights Management Information (RMI)” means information that identifies content protected by copyright
and related rights. RMI may take the form of an electronic watermark placed in protected content;
“Rome Convention” means to the International Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of
Phonograms and Broadcasting Organizations, adopted at Rome on 26 October 1961;
“Semi-conductor products” means the final or intermediate form of an incorporated circuit in a chip,
which has an electronic function;
“Sound recordings/phonorecords” means material objects in which sounds, other than those
accompanying a motion picture or other audiovisual work, are fixed by any method now known or later
developed, and from which the sounds can be perceived, reproduced, or otherwise communicated, either
directly or with the aid of a machine or device. The term "sound recordings" includes the material object
in which the sounds are first fixed.
“Technological Protection Measure (TPM)” means a unique method of protection of copyrighted products
through the use of digital encryption and other mechanisms to control unauthorized copying, transmission
and use of a product
“Trademark” means a sign that is used to distinguish the goods or services offered by one undertaking
from those offered by another.
“Trade name” means the name or designation identifying and distinguishing an enterprise.
“Traditional Cultural Expression” means the form in which traditional culture is expressed. This may
include music, art, designs, names, signs, and symbols, performance, ceremonies, architectural forms,
handicrafts and narratives.
