Repeal and amendment of laws
41. (1) The laws specified in Schedule 1 are repealed or amended to the extent
indicated in the third column thereof.
(2) Any regulation, license, appointment, designation, determination or other
thing which was made, issued or done under a law repealed by this section and
which could be made, issued or done, under any provision of this Act, is
deemed to have been made, issued or done under the last-mentioned provision
and remains in force until repealed or amended.
Application of Act
42. (1) The electronic Communications Act applies in relation to his Act, the
ICASA Act, the Sentech Act and any other legislation applicable to
broadcasting or electronic communications.
(2) In the event of a conflict between the provisions of this Act and any other
law relating to broadcasting or electronic communications, the provisions of the
Electronic Communications Act prevail.

Short title and commencement
43. (1) This Act is called the Broadcasting Act, 1999, and comes into operation on
a date determined by the President by proclamation in the Gazette.
(2) Different dates may be fixed for the coming into operation of different
sections of this Act by proclamation in the Gazette.
