The National Development Planning Commission shall be responsible to the President.
87 FUNCTIONS OF NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLANNING COMMISSION
(1)
The Commission shall advise the President on development planning policy and strategy.
(2)
The Commission shall, at the request of the President or Parliament, or on its own initiative—
(a) study and make strategic analyses of macro-economics and structural reform options;
(b) make proposals for the development of multi-year rolling plans taking into consideration the
resource potential and comparative advantage of the different districts of Ghana;
(c) make proposals for the protection of the natural and physical environment;
(d) make proposals for ensuring the even development of the districts of Ghana by the effective
utilisation of available resources; and
(e) monitor, evaluate and co-ordinate development policies, programmes and projects.
(3)
The Commission shall also perform such other functions relating to development planning as the
President may direct.
Part VI The Attorney-General
88 THE ATTORNEY GENERAL
(1)
There shall be an Attorney-General of Ghana who shall be a Minister of State and the principal legal
adviser to the Government.
(2)
The Attorney-General shall discharge such other duties of a legal nature as may be referred or
assigned to him by the President, or imposed on him by this Constitution or any other law.
(3)
The Attorney-General shall be responsible for the initiation and conduct of all prosecutions of
criminal offences.
(4)
All offences prosecuted in the name of the Republic of Ghana shall be at the suit of the
Attorney-General or any other person authorised by him in accordance with any law.
(5)
The Attorney-General shall be responsible for the institution and conduct of all civil cases on behalf
of the State; and all civil proceedings against the State shall be instituted against the
Attorney-General as defendant.
(6)
The Attorney-General shall have audience in all courts in Ghana.
