The Council consists of (a)
a Chairperson;
(b)
a representative of the Prime Minister's Office;
(c) a representative of the Ministry responsible for the subject of Information
Technology and Telecommunications;

(d)
a representative of the Ministry of Finance;
(e)
a representative of the Ministry of Economic Development;
(f)
a representative of the Joint Economic Council;
(g)
a representative of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
(h)
3 other persons representing the interests of consumers, purchasers and
other users of information and communication services, including
telecommunication services.
(3)
The members of the Council, except the ex-officio members, shall be appointed by
the Minister
(4)
The Council may co-opt persons with specialized qualifications and experience to
assist the Council at any of its meetings.
(5)
Every member of the Council shall hold office on such terms and conditions as the
Minister thinks fit.
(6)
The Council shall meet at least once every month or at such other time as the
Chairman may decide.
(7)
Five members of the Council shall constitute a quorum.
Functions of the Council
The Council shall advise the Minister on any matter relating to (a)
the promotion of the interests of consumers, purchasers and other users in respect
of (i)
the quality and variety of information and communication services including
telecommunication services provided;
(ii)
the information and communication equipment including telecommunication
equipment and facilities supplied;
(iii)
the effect of the tariff Policy adopted by the Authority;
