The Press Law is a law that aims to establish the general principles that should frame the activity of the media, with a view to allowing the regulation of access and exercise of freedom of the press, which is a fundamental right of citizens, constitutionally established. This right was the subject of a specific law passed in 1991, Law No. 22/91 of 15 June - Press Law, which ensures the right to inform and to be informed, and liberalized the media, allowing for coexistence public and private media, which have played an important role in the democratization of society and pluralism of expression.
