In this section, “private prosecution” means a
prosecution instituted by any person or authority
other than (a) the Director of Public Prosecutions or any
person acting under his or her direction or
control
(b) a police officer in the exercise of the functions
of his or her office, or
(c) an officer in the public service in the exercise of
the functions of his or her office.

An Act of the National assembly may make provision for
private prosecutions.

There shall be a National Assembly of The Gambia.

The National Assembly shall comprise –

forty-eight members elected from the constitutions
demarcated by the Boundaries Commission; and
five members nominated by the president.

Before taking his or her seat in the National Assembly, a
member shall take the prescribed oaths before the Speaker:

Provides that a member may take part in the election of a speaker
and Deputy speaker before taking such oaths.
