the Attorney General;
a member of Parliament;
a member of any commission, authority, council, or committee established by
the Constitution; or
a public officer.

(3)
Parliament may make provision for the resignation of persons holding office
established by the Constitution but not listed above.
6.

Reappointments and concurrent appointments. (Article 253)

(1)
If any person leaves a public office, he or she can be reappointed in accordance
with the Constitution as long as he or she is qualified for that office.
(2)
Any person with powers to appoint one in such an office may do so even if
that particular person in such a position is on leave and such a person appointed shall take
control of that office he or she is appointed to.
(3) Where two or more persons hold the same office as a result of clause (2) above
then for the purposes of any function conferred on the holder of that office, the person last
appointed shall be taken to be the sole holder of that office.

Pension. (Article 254)

(1)
A public officer must on retirement receive pension depending on his or her
rank, salary and the length of service.
(2)
The pension payable to any person shall not be taxed and shall be reviewed
periodically to take into account the change in value of money.

The payment of pension shall be prompt, timely and easily available to pensioners.

Parliament shall make laws providing for—
the right of citizens to demand the holding of a national referendum or in any
part of Uganda on any issue by the Electoral Commission;
the holding of a referendum by the Electoral Commission upon a reference by
the Government of any contentious matter to a referundum.
The results of a referendum shall be final and binding on all persons and
organs of State except that the referundum shall not affect—
the fundamental and other human rights guaranteed by the Constitution; and
the power of the courts to question the validity of the referendum.
